Tummery claimed three points in a crunch game against Enniskillen Rangers today at Crawfords Lane. A game that huffed and puffed for 90+ minutes with both teams defending resolutely. Both defences were on top for most of the game in a game of few chances. Tummerys best chance of the half fell to Adrian McCaffrey who was put through by Ruairi Sludden through his hard work unsettling the defence but was unable to make the most of the chance. Rangers threatened from a few set pieces but tummery stood strong and finished the half the strongest with Barbour the rangers custodian using all of his height and reach to stop a looping header going in to the rangers net. It finished 0-0 at half time. After the restart both teams had chances at either end but nothing clear cut. Play was halted for a long period due to an injury sustained to tummery custodian Chris Catterson which looked a serious injury the clubs wishes are with him for a speedy recovery. Sonnie McDonagh was introduced for Kevin McAleer after the hour mark and was having a instant impact on the rangers rearguard powering past Watson and a few others. He soon made his introduction count finishing a move down the rangers right leaving the despairing custodian with no chance. The large tummery crowd in attendance were jubilant that the deadlock had been broken with little time left on the clock. Substitute Niall Donnelly’s pace was troubling the rangers defence as they had pushed up in search of an equaliser, he broke past half way and tried to slip in the galloping McDonagh but it was adjudged to be offside. Rangers piled on the pressure for the 8 minutes of injury time but the tummery defence and midfield worked tirelessly and seen out the victory against the three time junior cup champions and league champions. Thanks to David Hamilton for refereeing the game today. We now focus on Enniskillen town in 2 weeks time for what will be a mouth watering encounter. Thanks to all the supporters for making the game today.
Tummery reserves also defeated mountjoy United 5-4 with Sean McNabb amongst the goals.
A special mention to Daniel McDonnell and Chris Catterson both players sustained serious injuries today an the thoughts of the club are with them and wish them a speedy recovery.
